***Notice of Account Closure***

Account Name: WOW1

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behavior is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: Blizzard Support

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment: Blizzard Legal Documentation. Note that additional Terms of Use violations may result in more severe actions against this account, up to and including permanent closure.

If you believe your account was compromised, please submit an in-game petition or fill the contact email form at http://us.blizzard.com/support/webform.xml?locale=en_US. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://us.battle.net/account/support/password-reset.html

For any disputes of this action or further information on Exploitive Activity, please visit the Exploitative Activity FAQ and contact page here: Blizzard Support

Will be contesting. Got this email about 3 hours go. I have not been logged on to that account since last night.

Ugh.

I have had that many auctions running on my main account as well (Which I do NOT bot on) for nearly 3 years now.

Oh well though. I sent in a contest letter, so we'll see where that goes. If I don't get it back, I may just stop altogether as it's hardly worth it anymore.

hahaha holy shit and they charged my card 30 minutes before the ban

Abuse of the economy is their new automated reason.. some can say oh ya dont know what I'm talking about, but after losing about .. think its up to 14 accounts now (lost two last night that were "compromised a few days ago - they watched them after), the first email always says abuse of the economy and has no signature with a GM's name in it, reply to it and most likely say third party software/automation for the reason with GM signature.. so something flagged you

or it'll say your account was compromised (after you reply) and you'll get the account back but they will watch it and if you keep up, ban

Yeah, I'm challenging it. I'm playing ignorance and asking why they would charge my debit card 30 minutes prior to closing my account.

If your letter works, could you let me use it? I had an account with 1 million gold on it banned, and need it to fund a church mission trip to New Mexico.

Ban was lifted. This is the email I got:

Greetings,

Thank you for contacting us concerning the recent action taken against the World of Warcraft account ***WoW1***. While we understand your concerns regarding the status of this account, we take matters involving the integrity of the game environment very seriously.

Please take a few moments to look over the World of Warcraft Terms of Use (Blizzard Entertainment: World of Warcraft Terms of Use), which all players agree to upon initially logging into the game.

The Terms of Use state that you will not "...modify or cause to be modified any files that are a part of the Game Client or the Service in any way not expressly authorized by Blizzard" or "...use *****s, automation software (bots), hacks, mods or any other unauthorized third-party software designed to modify the World of Warcraft experience..."

Additionally, the Battle.net Terms of Use (Blizzard Entertainment: Battle.net Terms of Use) state that "You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of the Login Information, and you will be responsible for all uses of the Login Information, including purchases, whether or not authorized by you."

Due to a second thorough review of the circumstances involved in this account action, we have made the decision to modify the previously communicated penalty. This additional review took into consideration a variety of factors including the history and standing of this account. Please understand that should another incident arise in the future, it is possible that a different outcome will be reached.

Please review our in-game penalties policy (Blizzard Support) which states that "we must also factor in the severity of the infraction and how often the player has violated our policies in the past. Based on these factors, the penalty may be moved up the Penalty Volcano, up to and including Account Closure."

If the previously issued action resulted in the closure of this account, the account has been reopened and access restored. Should any action be required in order to regain access to this account, an additional email will be sent from an @blizzard.com or @battle.net email address with further instructions. If no additional correspondence is received, you should be able to access this account using the password that was valid before the account closure.

Thank you for your continued correspondence in regards to your account and for respecting our position.

For those who are wondering what I said to get unbanned, it was nothing elaborate. I just sent like 3 sentences playing ignorance. Something along the lines of, "Why was my account banned?! You just charged my card and now I can't login! It says I'm selling gold? I don't even understand how you do that! Why was I banned?!"

Good job, I'd be careful for at least a week though they will watch it with their little automated system and it'll ban you again with the same bs excuse about abuse of economy. I would go ahead and start using a proxy at least, so if you intend to use it then they'll probably say compromised next time.. but cant guarantee that but seems pretty good chance.. in my experience every ban i've gotten while on a proxy has been lifted via compromise but then watched.

I always say that stuff in my emails, something short, irate and act confused. Why did you ban my account? I was playing and it just disconnected me! I dont understand, remove it immediately this is ridiculous blah blah

Glad you got the account back. Most of the time it appears likely you will get the account back just by responding to the email. In my experience, I have gotten banned/suspended for being on for more than 6-8 hours without a logout. I have now adjusted my botting time to a little under 5 hours per character before logout. Rinse and repeat.

Yeah, I'm going to lay off on botting on this account for a while for sure. I wonder if 1 week would be enough... or should I wait 2?

I dont know, 2 would be better, I'm going to try one.. time is money, after a week I could have just bought a new account lol
