In my opinion they don't need to scan anything. For the most part, a bot is easy to pick out, especially for those who actually use a bot program. I watch them everyday as I bot, stuck in the same places my questing bots get stuck in, flying and mining in the same way my bots fly and mines. In the end, if you get reported and they check you out (or if they just notice you on their own), all blizz has to do is check your log of actions (which I am sure they have a record of) to see what your toons have done and how they have done it. If they see you fly and land and gather over and over for 9 hours, no break, no talking, etc. any you do it several day sin a row it can be assumed that there is reasonable doubt that a human could/would perform these actions. As for questing, if they check the log and see you tried to turn in the same quest 149 times in a row and you don't meet the requirements, or you have been questing 15 hours a day for several weeks, it can also be assumed that no human would perform these actions. Stack a bunch of these report and reviews up and ban them all at the same time and you have people freaking out that their is a "ban wave". Sure, you could take them to court over the ban. You would probably win, but at what cost? A basic crap lawyer costs more per hour than a complete new set of keys. Best bet is to try to get unbanned and then sit on the account for a week or two before trying again. Being banned is inevitable if you bot and while you may have a far lesser chance of being caught if you only use lazyraider and a few other less noticeable bot options, at some point something is going to mess up and they will nab you. I have had at least a dozen accounts banned since LK, some have been perma (normally gathering accounts) while I have had several questing accounts unbanned right away without question. Its all a craps shoot. Just my 2 cents.
