So I figure what is to lose by posting this. I'm sure the lock will come out shortly. I ask that Bossland take the time to read this, as a loyal customer took the time to write it.
When I received my 6 month ban I was pretty disappointed. I had an account that was the way it was because of Honorbuddy. Full list of level 100s, virtually all of them in pvp blues or better, and a couple playing at 22xx MMR in arenas and RBGs. I knew that at some point this would happen but I also knew that I had HB and I could get back to a point like that with a little bit of work and $$. So, I like many others, waited for the response from the HB team. Bossland's response was genuine and apologetic, a very sincere apology and an honest statement about how they really didn't have an exact reason how so many were detected. They gave good news that HB would be back and they would put more work into Tripwire.
At this point my disappointment from the banning started to fade. I began to get my new account ready. I created my new names, I did the starter quests to get to an inn to start racking up rested XP and I boosted my new "main" with the free boost that came with my new WOD. I waited patiently until the HB team could work their magic.
Then the hammer fell. Honorbuddy would no longer support arenas, which was 90% of what I played and enjoyed in wow. The normal reaction followed. I thought about the numerous CRs I'd purchased, the fact that I felt arena wasn't anywhere as detectable as BGBuddy or GatherBuddy and so on. I posted on the forums, I argued and felt betrayed.
Since then I've looked into other programs, addons and the like, trying to find something that would be close to the enjoyment I had with HB in arenas. Its a hard challenge to go find this stuff. I'm playing manually atm and gearing up again, can certainly hit 1900+ manually but its just not as enjoyable. I like having something control the basics while I focus on positioning, when to use Cooldowns and all of that. I'm not here to get into a debate about using CRs in arena or anything philosophical. Bottom line, i'm not having as much fun.
Here is where I plead to the reasoning of the HB team.
Bossland - Nothing that you do from this point forward will ever "lower" Blizzards interest in honorbuddy. There is a legal battle, there was a targeted banwave, there are internet news articles about the fight between the two of you. There is virtually 0 chance that Blizzard will take you off of it's radar no matter what features you remove from your bot. Surely you can see this? Surely you can see you are too far down the road for Blizzard to let up on you simply because you are removing arena from the bot. They will never stop coming after you.
I think once you guys internally realize this, you will also realize that removing Arena does nothing to help your cause. However, what it does do is hurt your cause. It hurts the thousands of ppl who have supported you over the years. It hurts the developers who created routines specifically for arenas and gave you a % of their income for putting them in your buddystore. It hurts the wallets of the arena botters who have paid hundreds for the routines and will now have to move to another platform and more than likely pay again for the routine on that platform. It creates a sense of mistrust by your supporters that at any moment some critical aspect of their enjoyment of the game could be removed.
Selfishly I dont want to move. I love Honorbuddy and what the product has become. I love the store and the community, the exceptional support, the fact that you fought Blizzard and won. I love all of these things. I want to stay and support you for 5 more years. I'm not asking you to support arenas, I'm not even asking you to acknowledge CRs can be run for it. I'm asking, on behalf of thousands im sure, that you stay loyal to the customers who've been so loyal to you and supported you financially for these years and revert Honorbuddy to what it was before the patch.
Please consider this and remember, Blizzard isn't going to leave you alone, there is no chance, but you can sure put up a hell of a fight, and folks like me will support you until the end. Please remember and support us as well.
