I've heard this before, but I'm unsure how you would do it. If I have two computers behind the same internet access, it's one external IP. I can go around changing my MAC address and private IP, but both will always have the same public IP if it's using the same internet access.
The only way to do this is through a VPN on both machines, unless I'm missing something.
Yes, you'd setup a VPN on each client. If you're serious about "safety" use a couple of low-end (free) instances on AWS, assign a static IP to each and install openvpn server on each. That way you know your client is the only thing coming off that IP.. which is a major issue with using public VPN services to bot... if others are caught then you're using the same IP as them. Setup your clients to only have internet access if the VPN is up, that way if the VPN drops you're not still connected to WoW or Bnet with your home's public IP... better to get disconnected from WoW than risk a ban.
