If you re-installed your game, re-installed all of the Microsoft.net and whatnot like me.. and diablo was still crashing immediatly,
Make sure Curse / Steam and anything else that might add an in-game overlay is disabled. Took me forever to figure this out, but if I had curse voice enabled (overlay) it would crash the game every time. Turning these overlays fixed the issue completely.
