I have been playing wow since the beginning and have achieved 2.6+ in every bracket most seasons. Until this xpac when almost every player in arena was botting i was hitting a wall at 2.3. I was fed up and decided to do what i was always against and start botting arena. Easy 2.5 cr. Then the bann wave. Lost my account of 10 years with 3 years /played time on it. Im so glad honorbuddy removed it from arena, it was rather sickening to say the least and completely ruined the entire point of the game. I can see using a bot to do things that arnt competitive like grind honor gear, gold or leveling but bots in arena,rbgs, and raids is the dumbest thing this bot could of supported. Anyway thanks for doing what you do but please NEVER implement botting in arena again because i will forsure be done with this game.

Yup that's it. Arena is a competitive part of the game, - the bot should've never been available in there. I'm still convinced (personally) that this was one of the main reasons for the ban wave, even more so as we're at the end of the season. Bots in the arena messed up the game like no other part of the bot ever could.

Disabling Arena was one of the best decisions. They should have done this way earlier.

Good post Ginqt! I have been guilty of botting arena's at times. Nothing serious but I can see right away the damage it does to the game if the legit players are getting pissy. But hey, this argument has merits on both sides of the argument.

I have almost every paid CR including ones that are almost exclusively for pvp. I miss using them for sure and will again one day but not in Arena. I will respect that desicion.

Actually bots in raid are not stupid, you are not in a PvP enviroment, which is what draws so much attention, when people use something to get advantage on PvP stuff.

Now the issue is arena, who will blizz turn to when thats over.... obviously people performing on a superhuman level on-par or better than sim craft for your gear/class.... just my 2 cent.
Raid is competitive as well, the only thing not competitive is gathering and maybe honor farming.

The whole difference about the "competitive" is the way.

In PvP you have interactive competition with other Human (Or CR) - individual performance rely off the other team's performance and vice versa.

In PvE, the competition is non-interactive, others performance do not directly interfere with yours.

i beg to differ, at higher levels of PvE you are in direct competition with other players for highest DPS, HPS, kill times, there's races to clear content and so on. PvE is even more competitive than pvp. guilds compete, players compete, everyone wants to be top dog in pve and bots directly effect that, even more so than pvp, as other than movement a pve player needs to push 0 buttons to top dps and HPS,
The fact that ur not fighting another player directly doesnt change that, do you not think someone will get mad over a affliction lock with 100% uptime with dots, or a feral druid with a 100% perfect rotation and perfect uptime, i highly doubt a real player would be ok with someone clicking start and getting better than sim-craft dps.
Right now the problem is focused on arena but when thats over people will need another thing to QQ about.

yeah because your guild mates gonna care if you're topping the dps and performing in the high 90th percentile of your class... i can see how that would make them so darn angry.

Sure, no one in your guild is going get mad at you if you script in THEIR raid, just like your 3s partners wouldn't care if you scripted playing with them, don't be stupid. It's the other people in different guilds / teams that get mad and report/qq on forums. As he said just like with arenas, only the top 1% OF the 1% play like Vitalics rogue cr or in pve terms have 100% up-time with feral bleeds/lock dots and do more damage than a sim says you should do. And all of that is logged and posted for the world to see, any guild that does even heroics, and def mythics logs all of their fights and posts them to popular ranking sites. So stop being so naive.

Blizzard cares more about pve than pvp, it takes all but 5 minutes of a Google search to know that. Hell, they even have a 30 minute video up on youtube showing the behind scenes at Blizzard. Guess what? 98% of it shows them talking about how they're scripting new raid fights and having world first guilds test them to balance it. 0 pvp talk. Why? Because it's a small team that works on pvp its a addon to pve. A afterthought. Yes, I know PvPers are loud and QQ the most on the forums and it doesn't help at all. But have you looked at the WoW forums lately? If not, even after the arena ban of HB people are STILL accusing each other of kick botting and scripting. It's rather funny, people just like to whine no matter what, they think they're the best when in reality most are not.

And in the end - this ban did nothing, cokx/toizi/vitalic/possibly tuanha too are all going to a competitors bot that is working with them right now to make their scripts run smooth in arenas, and when that happens people will still blame hb except it wont even be hbs fault. It's too late to just cut out arenas, hb is already too popular. I don't really care about the removal of arenas from hb, because as I said a competitor is picking up the slack for arenas, and I'll still use this for pve. I just had to rant at you pve kids that think nobody reports you or looks into your god mode 100% uptime dps rotation, because they do. Sorry to burst your bubble. /end rant.
