Moving up Grift levels shouldn't be that hard, under the "Adventure" Tab, you can always choose the highest possible Grift levels. Unless you have the option "Reduce Grift levels" ticked, should work like a charm. Are you on the latest version? Idk but sometimes a fresh install also helps...
