Well over 1000 people seem to have gotten banned today. We have been looking hard for signs of detection and using the bot ourselves since there were a few bans last week. So far we have not found anything and the development accounts are not banned.
As of now, this looks like a server side...
We call anything over 1000 ban reports a ban wave. This is a ban wave. Right now the thing baffling us is that Nesox development accounts are fine...if we were detected he should have been first to get banned.
We are sorry for your loss but less than of 1% of currently online users are reporting bans. Demonbuddy is not detected but some activities seem to be flagging accounts.
Rhainland - thank you for taking the time to analyse this and report it. I apologise that we did not take it seriously enough - our server was hacked on or around December 13 and we are sorting things out now.
Its nothing to do with IP address changes.

There was no banwave - Blizzard simply held onto bans a while and unloaded a few hundred at once. They may have more accounts waiting to be banned in their pockets but its all speculation at this point.
