If you go the VMware route the only luck I have had is with Win7x32 any other VM I couldn't get to play the game.

I think this goes more into the new update, they removed buddy monitor code finally and if you have it in your plugins then your plugins wont compile and work. Have to either do a fresh install or delete buddy monitor plugin.

You can do VMware using VMware workstation. Win7x32 has worked for me and allowed me to run within a VM.
