Not that much. I started doing full act 3 clears as soon as patch 1.03 was deployed and back then 5-10M gold was still worth quite a lot. Using current item prices, I'd estimate about 20-35M per piece. Not counting the weapons and gems of course.

Yes, it's possible but as a disclaimer, the gear reqs to make it happen are pretty high and therefore expensive. :( It took a long while and a lot of gold to get there myself but once you're over the gear breakpoint though, it's a more time efficient way to get your paragon up. Off the top...
