After Blizzard lowered the gold price ceiling from $0.25 per 100K to $0.25 per 1M,
(For US Realms)
- 3rd Party Gold prices have soared to $1.5+ per 1M.
- 3rd Party Sites are looking for Item Suppliers
- US$250 is unable to buy a perfectly rolled 1.04 Legendary/Set item or useful Legacy Item
- RMAH is flooded with trashy items as all Uber items have migrated to the GAH (Blizzard's intended design)

Blizzard's intended design was for:
- All uber items to be located and hyper-inflated in the GAH
- So that players will spend >$250 for Gold
- In this way, Blizzard gets to earn RMAH: 15% + 15% and destroys 15% Gold in circulation via GAH.

The above does show that D3's economy will be in the "pink of health" for the upcoming months unless WoW: MOP (aka Lol-Panda) kills it.

I too am surprised. Bloody good thing too, it's paying for my weekend beers :)

I think many, including me, were expecting gold going live on the RMAH to kill the price, but it has stabalised at an okay plice, and as you pointed out, its value has increased on the 3rd party gold selling sites. Amazing! and brilliant :)

I am also getting a real kick out of the scripting and coding side, so the longer this lasts the better it is for me, on both the income side and past-time activity side :)

The game is boring and still frustrated. It still does not promote coop. It will die soon.

People want pvp and it has been 4 months already and the feature still not here.

I am a die hard fans and I don't even want to play this game.

i am pretty sure they are following their plans in order to maximize their revenue

I dont get why people keep thinking gold is .25/M

when I go to sell gold on the auction house it shows 1.91/M

GW2 doesn't really compete with D3, it's more of a competition to WoW.

Well GW2 isn't a big game compared to diablo 3 in sales and terms of players etc etc so it woulden't even get close to killing diablo 3.
Blizzard only makes money from diablo 3 with the rmah and every game copy they sell.
Basically for them to be able to make large enough profit let's say they get 25% becouse the 15% they say that goes to paypal I don't believe it they probably get a much lower rate.
So what's decent ammount of money from the ah a month if there's going for around 400million dollars traded a month on the rmah that's 100m for blizz which is compared to 150m+ believable.
I also did not suspect that the sales could be that high but seeing as blizz has put in so much money in diablo 3 I guess they've spent around 50% of the sales money or even more on everything so the profit is not so huge.
So the only real profit could come from the rmah which should be 100m a month not sure since there is no official number but they probably woulden't be interested in less.
So there's about 400m a month going in the d3 economy so guild wars 2 woulden't have a chance to kill it.

I'm not basing this on much else then what blizz has probably spent on diablo 3 already and what they make from wow a month just looking at it that way the only interesting thing money wise for them is 100m cut from the ah monthly it might even be more who knows.
The 400m a month could very well be wrong since it's such a big number but that's just the ammount traded I don't think it is that much but well what other way do they make their money right now?

If you look at what 3rd party sites sell etc and buy it's atleast 100m usd a month estimated.
The thing tho what I'm not so sure about is who the hell buys all that gold since I believe alot of players have quitted d3 it's like d3 is more of a trade place but who the hell are the buyers?

How can a fixed-cost game with no frequent-content-update compete with WoW?
notsureifsrs.jpg

WoW and GW2 are games where thousands of people can get quest, dungeon, raid, PvP etc. Both of these games are massive and the variety of content available is insane. I also believe these games take a little more time to get good then Diablo 3

Diablo 3 is a ARPG, people log on to get the best gear and stroke their e-peen while they smash mindlessly through end-game content. Totally different genre of games man.
