Hi, I got my first bans today, how do I know how long I was banned for?

***Notice of Account Closure***

Account Name: XXX

Reason for Closure: Terms of Use Violation -- Exploitative Activity: Abuse of the Economy

This account was closed because one or more characters were identified exchanging, or contributing to the exchange of, in-game property (items or gold) for "real-world" currency. This exchange process negatively impacts the World of Warcraft game environment by detracting from the value of the in-game economy.

Even if this is the result of account sharing, the account owner can still be held responsible for the penalty because of the impact it had on the game environment.

We've found the above behaviour is many times directly related to groups responsible for compromising World of Warcraft accounts; we take these issues very seriously. To better understand our position against exploitative activity and the risks involved, please review this article: Impact of Buying Gold - Services - World of Warcraft

The exploitative activity that took place on this account violates the World of Warcraft Terms of Use. We ask you take a moment to review these terms at Blizzard Entertainment: Blizzard Legal Documentation. Any recurring subscriptions on this account have been suspended to prevent further monetary charges.

If you believe your account was compromised, please go to the following website https://eu.battle.net/account/support/account-recovery.html. Our support staff will assist you as soon as possible. If you are unable to access your account due to the password being changed, please visit our Login Support site here: https://eu.battle.net/account/support/password-reset.html

For any disputes of this action or further information on Exploitive Activity, please visit the Exploitative Activity FAQ and contact page here: Exploitative Activity in World of Warcraft - Battle.net Support

Ba11a,

Put in a ticket, thats not a 72hr temp ban. Thats a perma as Peer.Vers said.

What should I say in the ticket? Both accounts were massive farmers who mailed all their loot. I had a few more accounts who did the same thing, they are still working fine. And the accounts who sold everything in AH are fine too.

Deny it to the death, wasn't me, wasn't there, didn't even know it was done until you told me about it.

Ever had your hand caught in the cookie jar?

Yes, and I played dumb when I got caught :D Maybe it's better not to put in a ticket to avoid getting my other accounts investigated?

Yes, different account. One account received loot from ~3-4 other accounts. Newbie mistake?

Do not mail to a different account. The one mailing will get banned receiver won't. At least from my experience.

I plan to run a huge amounts of bots in the future... What do you think is the best distribution method of loot anyway? Sell it straight from the farmer account and hope that you can accumulate an amount of wealth that's worth selling and assuming the ban is 100% coming? For example, let one bot run 24/7 for 30 days straight, let it earn a few- to several hundred thousand and once it has enough sell it all at once (buy account for ~<$20, sell goods worth $100+ & profit?) or do you think it's better to have an organized network of bots who all work together and have just a few dedicated seller accounts? If I kept all accounts separate before the "final deal", I wouldn't risk getting any infractions on real money trading before it's over and I've collected my profit... Does that make sense?

I have NEVER been banned for "abuse of economy"
Well i have, but i have always been able to appeal it and they change it to "3rd party program"

it usually goes down like this:
BAAM Banned - Abuse of economy
Ticket: What happened?! I came home from vecation and my account was banned! this is a mistake
Answer: After taking a second look into this matter we can see in our logs that you were using a 3rd party program to automate you moves in game. We have placed a 72h (3 days) suspension on your account. This is your last warning bla bla bla.

There are plenty of threads with guides and suggestions. Personally, I mail to same account, have separate accounts cross linked into all the guilds, multiple accounts cross linked to all the guilds as well. All trading happens through guild banks.

I personaly send all my stuff to an alt on the same account, mail it all back to my bot and than deposit it in the gbank. Get my other account to do with it what i want and send the bots back out.

I think my mistake was that I assumed when I just mail stacks of ore & herbs, nobody will care (I never mailed gold or anything like that). I guess I know better now :)

It was my first month botting, account #1 was almost out of gametime anyway and the 2nd one was a SoR account who had roughly two weeks left. Both of them had been farming close to 16 hours a day with a few breaks over the last two weeks (it took me a bit of time to familiarise myself with everything so account #1 didn't go to "work" full time since day 1). I wonder why my other accounts who have been doing the same thing are still untouched? One thing for sure, no more mailing anything to anyone. I'll use guild banks or just build up wealth on botting accouns before I make the "final" sale which will net me a decent profit (then the only risk will be getting caught farming).

What kind of life expectancy do you expect to a SoR account anyway? I've read that anything between 2 to 8 weeks is what's expected. At one point in farming it becomes a simple math problem based on risk & reward. Would you say it's a waste of money to do it like that if I don't push the limits of each account individually and just "dump" them?

So what are you saying there? that they knew you where using HB or any bot?

Im not sure. But it looks like if they want to, they can see that your boting pretty easily (derp)

About 4 or 5 account has gotten that same reply "looking over the logs, i can see your using a 3rd party program..."
So i guess if your unlucky you get caught in a automated ban, and then the GM investigating is douche enough to really check you out.

Thanks a lot for your advice. I really appreciate it. When I start building my future infastructure, I'll make sure I won't forget about building the bridges in case something goes belly up. It will take more time, but I'm sure it will be worth it to build something like that on each server, it will benefit you greatly in the long run. Not only does it limit your losses, it balances the risks at the same time. Once again, thanks! You gave me some great ides here.
