Some thoughts regarding the AutoIt banwave

As many of you all know, a few days ago, Blizzard's banwave targetted thousands of people who automated the AH 24/7, most of them using AutoIt.

AutoIt is the least detectable form of botting, as it operates on pixel detection.
This means your screen and mouse is pretty much rendered inoperatable for the duration of your botting, as well as requiring the client to be on the foreground.
Even people who didn't use AutoIt, but a simple auto mouse clicker which crudely clicked on one location every 5 seconds, got banned as well. (myself included)

I'm 100% sure Blizzard has a system and algorithm in place that can EASILY target us botters who automate Sarkoth/Core for hours at a time, moving in exactly the same pathing/ coordinates etc.
DB may not be detectable, just as AutoIT was not being scanned for, but our behavior utilizing such programs ARE. Hell, I'm sure 99% of us are already flagged to some degree.

So for the DB community, PLEASE be careful, and practice safe botting techniques and procedures (including changing bot locations constantly, and taking breaks)
There is a reason why when commodities become available on the RMAH, Gold will STILL be unavailable. Most likely due to them preparing for the massive banwave in the very near future and purging botted gold from the economy, so it doesn't get out of hand.

The thing i got from the blizzhackers ban thread was: Blizz couldn't detect the scripts but they detected bot-like behavior (in our case doing sarko 24/7)

So even if warden can't detect demonbuddy there's a big chance we're fucked. Unless i'm missing something?

Also if they do that your main (non botting acc) is SAFE (even when transfering all the gold to him from botting) because he's not involved in bot-like behavior

You pretty much get the picture.
The Buddyteam is absolutely amazing at what they do, and like AutoIT (being a legit software that Blizzard allows to run in the processes), DB is not detectable.

HOWEVER, the behavior of running a farming location (such as Sarkoth/Core) for hours at a time (some 24/7), following the exact same pathing and routines, are most DEFINITELY detectable.
That is why AutoIt users were banned, and that is why one of my accounts, which was using a extremely crude auto mouse clicker, which clicked on various locations once every few seconds (like 5-10 sec intervals, not even spam clicking like AutoIt), was banned as well.

Hell, you can argue to Blizzard that us DB users are just farming fanatics, that farm for long periods at a time and somehow happen to traverse across the exactly same path every time.
But then again. those who argued the same logic regarding AH searching did not have much luck with the banhammer either....

I'm sure unlike WoW, with D3's RMAH, Blizzard is really stepping up the notch on what they tolerate and otherwise.

Well... if im not wrong blizz have a log on our account behaviors (e.g. creating act 1-2/2 every 30 sec)... so tbh i rather farm the most efficient way since im marked anyways...

TL;DR:

The buddy team needs to make the pathing have a bit of randomness.

Fairly sure Blizzard can probably detect if someone hits the same points, over and over and over and over again. If that's the case, you're a bot. It's inhuman to hit the same pixels even two times in a row.

or maybe, just maybe they were "detected" because its abnormal for a single person to query the ah every second for 10+ hours a day -_____-

Because it's normal for us to grind the same location over and over again, in the exact same pathing and coordinates, 10+ hours a day? (Some of us 24/7)
If anything, our botting behavior is far easier to detect than someone clicking on the AH.

Hmm, if these people are the reason the AH is so messed up and inflated, then unlucky.. won't miss them.

they dont log every move made by every player ever

Since players without any form of script (who were just spamming refresh manually on AH for an extensive period of time) got banned for _botting_, it was only due to the bot-like behaviour they got banned, nothing at all to do with their AutoIT being detected.

I'm gonna sue Blizzard if they ban me. They don't have any proof of me botting, it's really likely cause of the exact pixels every game but that can be random. Anyway, they're 100% not loggin every single move, that's way too much data.

Good luck with that.

Spend boat loads of money on a lawyer.....

or buy another $60 CD key.

Your logic is infallible.

What was the reason of using an AH bot? Did it detect low prices and buy stuff, then repost for higher?

It would search for items worth alot being sold at a low price. User comes back and puts them 10x the amount. Profit.
