Ever wished you could export the Routes data directly to a profile?
Well now we can, thanks to RoutesBuddy. For those that don't know what Routes is, its an addon
that can genorate optimized paths for gathering nodes, see Routes - Addons - Curse

RoutesBuddy.webp

How to use:

  1. Make sure you have the latest version of Honorbuddy
  2. Download and install the Routes addon for WoW from Curse Gaming
  3. unzip the folder into your HonorBuddy/Plugins folder
  4. Go to the continent you want to export routes from
  5. Make sure HB is running, can be in any bot mode but needs to be running to load the mesh which is needed to get the heights
  6. Select RoutesBuddy in your plugin list and press the RoutesBuddy button
  7. Click import and wait until the Export button is enabled
  8. Select the routes that you want to export
  9. Set the Flying height
  10. Select the profile format, GB or HB(GB2)
  11. Click Export and wait while it imports
  12. Optionally change the route names by double-clicking on them. (useful if it has unsupported file name characters)
  13. select the folder you want to save the profiles to.
  14. /pie

Version 1.7

  • Updated to work with WoW 4.3
  • Changed default profile to HB (GB2)
Version 1.0.0.5:
  • Added an option to export the waypoints in reverse order.
Version 1.0.0.4:
  • Smooth Pathing now works
  • Last exported folder is remembered
  • Added a checkbox for generating underwater profiles.
  • Route name format has changed to "ZoneName - RouteName"

Oh man, this looks pretty sweet! Funny thing i was just a couple of hours ago looking into creating my own farming profiles and was thinking to myself making way points is gonna be a pain in the ass and now i see this! Going to try it out over the weekend, thanks!

btw how can you determine the proper height per location?

Just curious, the height modifier, this will determine how far you fly above the ground right? how does this work when flying over things like mountains for example or does it just set Z factor in your hotspot and whats the use to that?

The Height modifier will determine how high you will fly. It will insert one hotspot every 50yards in between hotspots and uses the mesh to get the height for all of them so it should be able to go over mountains etc.

Hmm I just tried playing around with this and I optimized a route and everything looked fine. The import function seemingly worked as it showed the name of the Routes data file that I made in-game. I exported that file as HB file type so as to fun on the newest HB/GB2. Everything looked like smooth sailing. Well when I run the profile it seems like it sorta follows the Routes path but it doesn't. For instance in Uldum at the bottom of the Lost City where the river runs out to the ocean. I set up the path to fly at that delta where there is some whiptail. Well it goes there but its way out into the ocean where the routes path shows it going almost over the city itself.

I have deleted the profile, restarted WoW and Hb and yet still get the same result.

oh good lord thank you so much highvoltz, ever since Cata came out and Phoenix EditPatrol broke i have been at a loss how to make some good routes. once i feel like GB2 is a little more stable i will be all over this!

Thanks for the feedback, atm I'm busy with something else but I'll look into this later.

I'm having an issue with the route conversion. I converted a route to HB and it looks like its working okay, except that it isn't following the route at all and does not seem to be following anything. Looks like its wandering aimlessly, even took a trip over the ocean in twilight highlands, and the place with the drakes are, even though I didn't have cinderbloom selected for the route.

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.

No this is the same issue I am having. Highvoltz will take a look at it when he gets some time.

Thanks High! Great idea though!

got same issue as others here, hope you can sort it other then that job well done.

Having exact same issue as others, does not follow route at all, just wanders around aimlessly, which I would just about bet that it is the order in which the plugin converts the route into hotspots that is the problem, I do not think that it is putting the hotspots in the same order that the route has them in, think it's just convernting all of the node locations from the route into hotspots and adding them to the profile in whatever order it decides to. To fix it should be able to force the plugin to "pick" a node from the route, then order each hotspot from that node in the order they appear in the route, so that it follows a linear line the same as the route is shown on the world map when examining it in game from the routes addon. As it seems now when it converts each route, it just randomly orders each hotspot and does not keep them linear in the order they apear on the map.

If I knew what language and code this is written in, I could probably fix this, as it is a simple logic error in the coding.

Hope this helps to fix the issue. Plugin is worthless until it is fixed. Great idea and concept though.
