I get this critical error message whenever I try to open AB

What version of windows are you using and are you running the program as Administrator?

Windows 8 and yeah I opened as administrator

I placed it in a folder in desktop

Try this:
Right click Updater.exe
Go to properties
Go to the compatibility tab
Click the square for "Run in compatibility mode for:"
Select Windows 7 from the drop down menu.
Try again, see if that works.

Move It to D:\ArcheBuddy for example
