Selling with paypal

Hey guys - I've been selling gold for a while now and always used Skrill to avoid refunds as much as possible.

However atm I'm making more then i'm selling to my trusted private buyers, I do however have people that are willing to buy through paypal - How can I make sure though, to not get scammed ?


I'm kinda nub with paypal. I do however have a verified one.

No way if you were to get a business paypal and a special system to minimize fraud very intelligent systems to use for that you could make it very unlikely to happen but it still happens.

But the costs of such a system and registering a company is pretty high so I doubt you can do it.

You need a website to use it with I think.


If you use that system it will be very hard for them to use proxiis to cheat the system so you can see if someone already has the intention of fraud using a proxi or different ip.
Not to mention paypal has less issues with business customers in the way that if someone charges back saying they did not receive their goods you will likely get your money as it's a digital item and there's no buyer protection for it.

Paypal have to go through with the chargeback because blizzard will not provide any information saying that the good are delivered and the transaction is legit, you're not suppose to be selling gold in the first place also you do not win any dispute where virtual items (wow gold) is concerned.
 
i tired everything :( i never win not one showed them screen shots letters you name it still :( paypal sucks!!!!!!
 
there's a new thing, keep in mind i'm someone who ran a business and encountered this friendly fraud, sadly after a year of searching I discovered that the banks systems are outdated to deal with these types of online transactions and most of them simply add 12% to the transaction if you're high risk and not dealing with the main root of the problem which is anti-fraud systems, you'll also find that the up to date systems are all american and you need a bank in America (Merchant Account) to do so.

however, I've been hearing about eWallets which don't have chargebacks but I've encountered that the systems that don't allow chargebacks are either high in fees or have some other problem otherwise everyone would be using it and it would be known everywhere... sadly again the merchant is responsible for everything

there's 3 reasons where you can get chargebacked (well 4 but it's similiar), I know how to win all of them except the worst one (which is what most of them use, how ironic) which is unauthorized transaction.. the methods of catching these guys out are kept secret for the most obvious of reasons.

I got a chargeback one time for 25Euro from a guy who tried to scam me. I told paypal that their protections do not count for virtual items and posted the paragraphs, because their support is stupid as fuck (as 99% of all support people out there) and won't know their own rules.

Finally the support decided that I can keep the 25Euro and the scammer got 25Euro from paypal.

I've read many times that this works - however, if the scammer says reason unauthorized transaction ( as stated above ) you wont stand a chance apperently.

That's why you use software so you can be nearly 100% sure he's using no proxii or ip far from his real location and all info is correct and low chance of scam.
But you need a website and some money for it.
 
I used Paypal quite alot and their system is just fucked up at all. Far too many gaps.

The only reason why I never got into that much trouble is, because I spoke with my costumers in skype. I told them that I will spend the money to buy a gift, which is a little bit more expensive, for my small brother. I told them that how excited he is everytime he sees the commercial in the television. Just come up with a small emotional story to touch their hearts. In addition, you build up a damn strong relationship to your customer so I was able to charge 9Euro/10k gold when all of you sold it for $3/10k.

I am probably the only one who actually did this.
 
Can't you just have them pay via PayPal gift? I'm not certain but thought PP Gift had no method of reversal.

I would honestly only sell with paypal if you trust the person you are selling to, otherwise use a different form of online currency exchange because more often then not, paypal sides with the person who sent money.
 
There is no way to protect against chargebacks for digital items, paypal will not side with you almost ever in this sort of sale.
You always have a risk
 
Paypal is known to have issues while doing transactions (mainly towards chargebacks not being in your favor/taking too long even with proof.) and many times will just withhold your paypal balance if issues come up.
That said I still use paypal and sell to only trusted people but if you were to sell to normal people without rep such as myself, I personally wouldn't feel comfortable with that.

td;lr ; paypal is a bitch if there's any issues.
 
I dont know if this is a way of beating the problem, but i have never had any problems with chargebacks.

I simply had 2 paypals, one with my main E-mail which has a credit card attatched, and the other one dosent have a credit card. Give the buyers the E-mail that has your secound paypal, and when the money is transfered, then you just transfer it from your secound paypal to your first.
 
Paypal can still chargeback...they'll put the 2nd account into a negative balance and if you don't pay within 30 days they lock the account out. Happened to me when I used the same method...also had a large sale go through once and the moment the money hit my account it was locked for suspicious activities and never saw the money again. You might get lucky with paypal for a bit...but any digital goods like this unless you're the buyer just isn't worth the risk because eventually paypal will nail you for all you've got on the account.
