Diablo III logs around 1 million unique players per day, former game director Jay Wilson revealed today during a Game Developers Conference panel titled "Shout at the Devil: The Making of Diablo III."

...

Also during his talk today, Wilson admitted that Diablo III's auction houses--both real-money and in-game--have negatively impacted the game. Though 50 percent of all players make use of the auction houses, Wilson explained that making real-world money has become more of a motivating factor for players than killing Diablo. He said the team at Blizzard is working to remedy the situation, though nothing specific was mentioned.

Tinfoil rumors that Blizzard will be stopping players from withdrawing RMAH sales received into PayPal and that all sales received will be in "Blizzard Bucks" are floating in the air.

Can't stop it.. If they do that then people will just sell gold / third party sites as they do now. Bot on...

Agreed. But then again, Blizzard hasn't been making intelligent or sane decisions since D3 Release last May.

The solution has been to eliminate the Rmah in ps3/ps4. In pc i have clear that they never will eliminate it. In conclusion diablo for ps3/ps4 will be a full failure because the 95% of the diablo 3 players are dissapointed with the game and will not buy the same game for ps3 or ps4.

P.D : The community of Diablo 3 is maintained with the bots.

they know their game is dead and this is just a publicity stunt to bring back those who hated on the AH from the beginning (which will never happen anyway)
Wilson didnt know how to make a good game so he put in the real money factor..to assure the success which worked up to some extent
i dont think anyone at blizzard is stupid enough to remove their own money milking cow(while the game costs 35E when there were players that blew thousands of euros and dollars on it ) plus it will shrink their player base a lot more
what i find interesting is the players per day . 12m copies sold and only 1m still playing :) divided by 3 regions i would say 500k in US , 300k in Europe and 100-200k in ASIA(cos asia doesnt have rmah ) . 1/3 of which being bots scamers manual farmers who only play for the g and you have the real number of players who actually play and like the game :) (if the 1m figure is not exaggerated which i think it is )
As for the tinfoil rumors...they can remove paypal or invalidate the purpose of the AH but they will never do it because RMAH might as well be closed
TL;DR : Jay Wilson is bullshiting

To be more accurate (going by the ability to sell/not sell gold), the pop for each Region should be:
Asia: 700k (No RMAH, but weird anti-RMAH US players play here for the dupedly-cheap gear. Hordes of angry legit Asian gamers coming to US Forums to voice out their frustration in their own language)
USA: 250k (300 to 1500 public games at peak hours)
EU:50k (This is the worst server, can't sell anything at all)

doubt it . there are so many in asia . but if there are i dont think it has anything to do with rmah. the masses of players are dumb
if i would really like diablo taht much i would just buy gold from the chinese and buy godly gear not switch servers especially asia with their language.
everything blizzard does has to do with money for example crafting : in the end only amulets and shoulders are worth doing :) gloves are 50-50% , bracers who gives a fuck everyone uses lacunis , and chests are particularly bad so that they don't invalidate the ik chests :)

EU got over 3k public games in peak hours, so if any, these proportions between us and eu should be opposite.

Why does it matter what he says he is no longer involved in the Diablo 3 team....

Here's a tinfoil conspiracy theory:
Jay Wilson is probably the Puppet-Master/Defacto-Director(in practice but not in name) from behind the shadows.

You don't see Travis Day giving speeches in public. You only see Jay Wilson and Wyatt Cheng doing that.

I am Gay Wilson.

So of the 1 million, how many are bots?? LOL. 14 here, and I'm not even a big time botter. There are Chinese farms in the thousands probably. That's at least 10% of the daily logins being bots. No wonder the economy is so trashed HAHAHAA

Jay Wilson is such an idiot...

There were just as many people playing to make money in d2, the only difference is that blizzard never got a >15% cut on all those transactions.
