Hi all,

Im running 5 bots right now and am a little curious as to what your guys temps are. I just started paying attention too it and I'm at around 85c for my gpu and about 73c for my cpu. I was reading that these are considered to be very high. I also read that if i was below 90 im good. Thoughts?

What CPU and GPU are you running?

It depends on your processor. Google yours to make sure you're not burning it out.

i run ~6 on my 950 (i7) ... and my cpu is about 60% , gpu doesnt seem phased - I dont have anything right now to check temps but i run 6 flawlessly (as well as 2-3 wows in addition)

You're fine. the 930 has a max of like 100c (but you don't want to 24/7 it too much above 80, in my opinion).
Your graphics card is from a generation of INFERNO graphics cards, fermi produced a lot of heat, but your temp is still far from it's max. (Its max is listed at around 105c)
You're good!

Thanks bro, I appreciate it.

NP, I'm using an i7 930 at 4.0 ghz myself, my case has crappy airflow so mine gets as high as 83c at times (as low as 70c after cleaning my case)
My graphics card is a GTX 480 and that piece of crap refuses to be below 80c.

Cool, I have a "cooler master" case and Gpu of 86C and Cpu of 73 been up for about 23 hours since last shut down.

REZZZ u running your 5 machines on VM or Desktop ? (virtual machine)
take care about your main ISP IP and hardware ID, u have downloaded the D3pref.txt for lower the graphic ?
mayne get V*P*N service ... ;-)

I'm running 2 bots on my main machine (i7-2600K 3.4 GHz, GTX 580 3 GB) with modified d3prefs and @320x240. my CPU is always 85-90 degrees and GPU 75 degrees, CPU load is about 40-45%. I also have foobar2k, opera, thunderbird, totalcmd, utorrent, skype, qip, DT, microsoft essentials, dropbox, admuncher constantly running. I had frequent bsods before because of overheating (CPU I guess), but after modifiying something in BIOS (I tweaked almost everything related to CPU and cooling to higher values) it started running much smoother without bsods at all (sometimes I run ps3 media server streaming 720p video which can push CPU temperature even up to 95 degrees).

is there anything else I can do to lower the temperature? closing applications/buying a separate PC is not an option :)

Clear out your PC case of all dust and get maximum airflow. If you are really concerned, put another fan outside your tower blowing on it. Also I think the cause of your BSOD is your GPU overheating, your CPU shouldnt be struggling.

get an aftermarket cpu cooler, seriously.

running close to your hardware max temps is not a problem, but i assume you guys are botting 24/7 so then it's not a good idea.
you'll be degrading your hardware way faster, losing efficiency. these days you'll hardly kill a chip like that, but you'll def see a loss of "power".

i run 4 bots on my 2500k OCed @ 4.8ghz and my temps never get to 60?C, but that's with a Noctua cpu cooler.

As already suggested: get an aftermarket cooler. The temperature you're reaching isn't even good for a boxed cooler. I wonder if the fan is even attached to your CPU the way it should be.

Just desktop. Its been that way since December. I was reading about the VM and all that, but it didnt seem to make much of a difference. Both people who had it and didnt got banned. I have not downloaded the d3pref, I was going to but I dont really have a reason to as i run fine with all the graphics turned way down in game. To be honest I try to spend as little time as possible with the bots, especially now that the market is so crummy. The reason i started botting is A) im an entrepreneur for a living and saw a lot of potential to make money. B) I enjoy videys and anytime i can combine a hobby and making money, well then that's life at its best.

As far as botting as a business model, It is a great one. Very low overheard, initial start up costs and risk. I am excited for the next big game to bot! I just read that POE has over 2 million players now..... Perhaps this will be next? A little off the subject, but what do you guys think of POE?

thnx for the advice guys, I'll take a look at my current cooler (it wasn't me who assembled my PC) and try to get an aftermarket cooler

Woooow, what the hell guys? 80C isn't good for a GPU. I know Fermi family generates heat, i've got a GTX 560Ti myself, but with edited d3prefs (15/15 FPS, 800x600 resolution, 9.999999 Mip bias and 1 TerrainFiltering) it stays at 56-58C all the time with 6 instances of d3+db running. Are you sure that's normal? I'd check your GPU load/memory load with gpu-z and make sure it's okay. But still, this high does not sound normal to me at all. Also, i'd change the thermal grease of the GPU. This kind of heat hardens it quite fast.

GPUs generally heat up alot more then CPUs. 80?C is fine for a GPU.

^this.

i'd still crank up that gpu fan, tho... but that's just me, i'm paranoid with heat since i live in a goddamn frying pan of a city.

Generally; i am quite aware of that fact. I am not so sure it's fine, tho. Pretty sure there's gotta be something wrong with settings. This high is just strange. Was at my buddy's place today. He runs 5 bots on a gts450 and it wasn't gettin above 60C as well. FPS 15/15 and 800x600 resolution / 16 BIT graphics sure help a lot. I suggest you guys try it with these settings and then check your temps.
